Warm up - Astronaut Training (10-15 mins)
Astronaut Training - Without a football, players will go around Football Island and complete various training routines to prepare themselves for outer space. Ask players to move in different ways, mimicking different astronaut movements.
Set up
Create a large square or rectangular area with blue cones. On the inside of the blue area use yellow cones to make a slightly smaller square or rectangular area called “Football Island”.
Storytelling Instructions
“Attention, future space explorers! Today is a crucial day in your journey to becoming full-fledged astronauts. Before venturing into the vast unknown of outer space, you must pass a series of challenging astronaut training exercises. Imagine you’re at the Astronaut Training Academy, gearing up for the final assessments. Your mission: complete various training routines to prove you have the skills needed for the cosmic challenges that await.”

Instructions
The teacher will call out different command for the students to practise.
“Floating!” - Walk backwards. Imagine you are floating in zero gravity, effortlessly moving backward.
“Moonwalking!” - Skipping. Take light, bouncing steps as if you’re exploring the lunar surface try to get as high as possible.
“Balancing!” - Stand on one leg, then switch to the other leg, testing your balance like a space traveller in a low-gravity environment.
“Hopscotch!” - Hop on one leg, then jump with both legs, imagining the uneven terrain of distant planets. Remind players that astronauts have lots of steps to re- member, we must remember to “hop, jump, hop jump!”.
“Low gravity!” - Move in slow motion, experiencing the unique sensation of reduced gravity in outer space.
“Spaceships!” - Run fast, as if piloting a high-speed spacecraft across the cosmos.
“Orbit!” - Spin once. When running if teacher calls out “orbit” players should check their surroundings to make sure they don’t crash their spaceship in outer space and perform one spin.
Space Tag - Without a ball, players will continue exploring Football Island, but this time they will avoid the aliens (Teacher or selected players) who are trying to tag them. If an astronaut gets tagged, they must freeze and balance on one leg until another astronaut high- fives them to release them from the freeze.
Increase the number of aliens to make it more challenging for the astronauts.
Aliens can throw “slime” (bibs) to catch the astronauts, requiring them to navigate carefully.
Players should look around for “spaces, not near faces.” Maintain awareness of other players to avoid collisions.
Encourage players to communicate and help each other during the training.
Observe and highlight good examples of movements, encouraging other players to imitate them.
Commands should be called out quickly to maintain engagement and enjoyment levels.
Stuck astronauts should communicate when they are tagged by calling for help to break free from the freeze.
Encourage players to seek open spaces and avoid getting caught by the aliens.
Technical Development - Space Exploration (15-25 mins)
Space Exploration - Players will now put on their imaginary space suits, complete with boots and helmets, and receive a football each, representing their oxygen tanks. They will practice dribbling and manoeuvring their footballs as they explore the vast reaches of outer space.
Set up
Create a large square or rectangular area with blue cones. On the inside of the blue area use yellow cones to make a slightly smaller square or rectangular area called “Football Island”. Players should have one football each.
Storytelling Instructions
“As fully equipped astronauts, it’s time to embark on a space exploration mission. Put on your space suits, secure your helmets, and ensure your oxygen tanks are within reach. The success of your mission depends on your control of the football, which serves as your life-sustaining oxygen tank.”

Instructions
Before setting off to explore space, find a space on Football Island and shout, “3, 2, 1 Blast off!” To signal the start of your mission. Imagine the vastness of space as you dribble around the island, encountering various obstacles and challenges.
On the teachers command astronauts should incorporate the following movements:
“Orbit!” - Spin around the ball, imitating the motion of a satellite orbiting a planet.
“Climb down the ladder!” - Perform quick toe taps on the ball, as if stepping down from a spacecraft.
“Moonwalking!” - Insides. Control the ball with the inside of your feet, mimicking the graceful movements of an astronaut on the moon’s surface.
“Radio mission control!” - Sit momentarily on the ball to receive important instructions from ground control. Challenge astronauts to do this without using their hands.
“Spaceships!” - Dribble quickly, imagining yourself piloting a speedy spacecraft.
“Low gravity!” - Dribble slowly, adjusting to the reduced gravity of outer space.
Place “alien slime” (bibs on the floor) as obstacles that players must avoid. If players collide with the slime, or another player they must return to the safety area, or dribble around the outside of the island before re-entering Football Island.
Players should take lots of little kicks and always keep the ball close to them, ensuring they have full control of their oxygen tanks. Remind them that if their oxygen tank goes too far away from them they won’t be able to breathe in outer space.
Encourage players to explore different parts of their feet to control the ball effectively.
Focus on maintaining good spatial awareness and looking for open spaces to manoeuvre through, players should avoid crashing into other spaceships while in outer space and avoid the alien slime on the surface of Football Island.
Encourage players to use their laces to accelerate into open spaces, just like propelling a spacecraft.

Conditioned Game - Star Wars (15-25 mins)
Star Wars - Players will line up on one side of Foot- ball Island as “spaceships” without a ball. On the command “Star Wars!” Players will navigate their spaceships from one side of the island to the other before the force field closes (within a specified time). Meanwhile, the Teacher or selected players will act as “gunners”, attempting to shoot down the spaceships by kicking “missiles” (footballs) and hitting the spaceships below the knee from the adjacent sides of Football Island. Spaceships that get hit are eliminated and join the gunners. Gunners should “reload” after each round.
Set up
Create a large square or rectangular area with blue cones. On the inside of the blue area use yellow cones to make a slightly smaller square or rectangular area called “Football Island”. Choose two opposite side for the spaceships to fly to and from with the remaining two side being the shooting stations for the “Gunners”.
Storytelling Instructions
“Imagine a critical moment in your space exploration journey—Star Wars! As the force field closes in, you must pilot your spaceships swiftly and skilfully to reach safety on the other side of Football Island. Beware the gunners who are trying to shoot you down! It’s a battle between the spaceships and the gunners for survival in the depths of space.”

Spaceships: Navigate your spaceships from one side of Football Island to the other on command “starwars!” Before the force field closes.
Gunners: Shoot down the spaceships by kicking missiles (footballs) and hitting them below the knee from the yellow sand of football island on the adjacent sides from the spaceships. Wait until teacher call “reload” before retrieving your football and returning back to the outside of football island.
Add obstacles such as “asteroids” (cones/bibs) that players must avoid. Colliding with an asteroid results in elimination.
Gunners must shoot with their non-dominant foot to challenge their skills further.
Decrease the amount of time spaceships have to get from one side of football island to the other adding a sense of urgency and excitement.
The Teacher should monitor the number of players in the game and restart as necessary.
Gunners should look to pass the ball accurately with the inside of their feet to increase the chances of hitting the spaceships.
Gunner should try to use their laces when aiming for a spaceship further away for added power.
Gunners should try to hit the centre of the back of the ball, if they hit too low on the football it will cause it to go too high to destroy the spaceships.
Spaceships should focus on timing and agility, navigating through open spaces and changing speed and direction to avoid the missiles.
Spaceships should have awareness of other spaceships, missiles, asteroids and the amount of time remaining to make it across the area before the force fields close.
